Mark, Maddy, and I all got up at 4:30am this morning and went fishing. Mark caught the biggest catfish he's ever caught. It weighed 13lbs! It took him quite a while to get it up to the surface of the water. Once he had finally worn it (and himself) out, he handed me the pole and then he leaned over the boat, grabbed the fish, and tossed it in.
We caught 5 other keepers today as well. Even though they were above the minimum of 14 inches, his big catch made the others look like tiny babies.
Our freezer is filling up quickly. I see a big fish fry in our future.
I'm really busy with the garden, among other things, this time of year. I don't always have the time or energy to do a new post full of details and pictures. However, I didn't want you all to think that I had just abandoned my blog so I added Twitter Updates. It's over there on the top right, under the ABOUT. Now I can at least let you know I'm still alive. Even if just barely.
Hello again, it's Stacey here. Mom is busy baking a cake for Maddy's birthday today so I decided I would do a birthday post for Maddy since she didn't do one yet.
Stacey went to prom for the first time last night. She had a blast! She also danced her first slow dance ever ... with a complete stranger. Gotta love those homeschooled kids. Fearless, lol. She's already looking forward to next year's Home School Prom.
I think the second picture is my favorite. Isn't she gorgeous!!! I can't believe this is the same child I birthed almost 18 years ago. How does this happen?
This post is for Kendal, a sweet, beautiful, precious little girl. Kendal has Angelman Syndrome.
Each year the Angelman Syndrome Foundation holds an annual walk-a-thon to increase awareness about AS and raise the much needed funds that support Angelman-specific research, education, and general support. This event is a wonderful opportunity to gather with AS individuals, their families, friends, and other community members. This is the eleventh year of this event, and we are proud to announce walks will take place in 24 cities across the nation. Mark your calendars for May 16, 2009!
Our family participated last year in Nashville, TN and we will be participating again this year. There are walks in Buffalo, NY; Carson City, NV; Chicago, IL; Cincinnati, OH; Columbia, SC; Dallas, TX; Denver, CO; Des Moines, IA; Detroit, MI; Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Houston, TX; Lafayette, LA; Las Vegas, NV; Mobile, AL; Nashville, TN; Omaha, NE; Philadelphia, PA; Pittsburgh, PA; Sacramento, CA; Salt Lake City, UT; San Diego, CA; Minneapolis, MN; St. Louis, MO; and Washington, DC!
Even if you can't participate in the walk, please consider donating. I know times are tough for a lot of people, but any amount, no matter how small, will be much appreciated and put to very good use. Please visit the Team Kendal-Fundraising Page to donate, or Angelman Syndrome Foundation for more information on Angelman's.
We hope to see you in Nashville May 16th! Go Team Kendal!!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter! I know we did!
Can you believe how big these kids are getting?
Oh! We're almost done with our new chicken coop/tractor, or whatever you want to call it. We had to build a new one because we have new chicks!
These are Cinnamon Queens which are almost identical, if not identical, to the four Golden Comet girls we already had:
These are 3 Red Stars (Which are supposed to be excellent layers even through harsh winters) and 2 Araucana/Ameraucana (which lay eggs in shades of blue and green, they're also called Easter Egg Chicks for that very reason) chicks:
