Stacey went to prom for the first time last night. She had a blast! She also danced her first slow dance ever ... with a complete stranger. Gotta love those homeschooled kids. Fearless, lol. She's already looking forward to next year's Home School Prom.
I think the second picture is my favorite. Isn't she gorgeous!!! I can't believe this is the same child I birthed almost 18 years ago. How does this happen?
This post is for Kendal, a sweet, beautiful, precious little girl. Kendal has Angelman Syndrome.
Each year the Angelman Syndrome Foundation holds an annual walk-a-thon to increase awareness about AS and raise the much needed funds that support Angelman-specific research, education, and general support. This event is a wonderful opportunity to gather with AS individuals, their families, friends, and other community members. This is the eleventh year of this event, and we are proud to announce walks will take place in 24 cities across the nation. Mark your calendars for May 16, 2009!
Our family participated last year in Nashville, TN and we will be participating again this year. There are walks in Buffalo, NY; Carson City, NV; Chicago, IL; Cincinnati, OH; Columbia, SC; Dallas, TX; Denver, CO; Des Moines, IA; Detroit, MI; Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Houston, TX; Lafayette, LA; Las Vegas, NV; Mobile, AL; Nashville, TN; Omaha, NE; Philadelphia, PA; Pittsburgh, PA; Sacramento, CA; Salt Lake City, UT; San Diego, CA; Minneapolis, MN; St. Louis, MO; and Washington, DC!
Even if you can't participate in the walk, please consider donating. I know times are tough for a lot of people, but any amount, no matter how small, will be much appreciated and put to very good use. Please visit the Team Kendal-Fundraising Page to donate, or Angelman Syndrome Foundation for more information on Angelman's.
We hope to see you in Nashville May 16th! Go Team Kendal!!
